Holbox is a Mexican Island 26 miles / 42 km long. It is is located to the northwest of Cancun, Mexico it is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a lagoon which is sanctuary to many pink flamingos, pelicans and many other birds .

Most of the local workers make their living as fishermen, It is very common to see fishermen with their catch of the day . The roads of Holbox Island are made of white sand, common in this part of Mexico , there are very few vehicles . Holbox is an unspoiled tourist destination because only a few outsiders visit it.
